MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. — A Muskegon Heights man convicted of possessing and distributing child pornography was sentenced Monday.
Antonio Lashun Aldridge was sentenced to a year in jail with credit for the 195 days he's already served, meaning Aldridge will only remain in prison for about five more months. He will then be on probation for three years.
The investigation started last summer when it was found that Aldridge had been distributing child pornography online. He was arrested back in August after police seized digital evidence from his home.
He was charged with aggravated distributing or promoting of child sexually abusive material, aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, using a computer to commit a crime, felon in possession of firearm, and felon in possession of ammunition, according to a press release from Michigan State Police.
He could have been sentenced to more than 50 years in prison.
Aldridge will be required to register as a sex offender.
There are many resources available to parents to assist in keeping children safe online. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children provides a comprehensive list of resources on their website at MissingKids.org. The MSP ICAC Task Force also provides resources at MichiganICAC.com.
