Minor in custody after shots fired at Kalamazoo KIK pool on Wednesday

KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. — A minor is in custody after a shooting at a Kalamazoo pool on Wednesday evening. 

Around 6 p.m., officers with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) responded to reports of shots fired at the KIK Pool, located at 1018 Walter Street.

KDPS said officers were on the scene within minutes, spoke with several people there and recovered two firearms. A minor was arrested in connection to the shooting.

Nobody was injured in the shooting. However, an unoccupied vehicle was damaged.

The KDPS Violent Crimes Unit of the Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the incident. 

KDPS said they can't share any further information at this time to "protect the integrity of the investigation."
