KENT COUNTY, Mich. — An Oakfield Township business had marijuana, nicotine vape pens and thousands of dollars in cash seized by police after allegedly selling to minors.
The Kent County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) said they began investigating after people in the community claimed that children could purchase nicotine vape pens from the business.
Last month, the Kent Area Narcotics Enforcement Team seized 3,200 grams of marijuana, 4,100 vape pens, 2 handguns and $39,500 from Nature's Edge in Oakfield Township.
The business was formerly known as Greenville Hydroponics.
The sheriff's office said that in May of 2023, a KCSO decoy successfully bought a vape pen from the business despite the decoy being underage. The business was cited for the incident.
KCSO said that months later, a resource officer at a nearby school was informed that Nature's Edge was allegedly selling marijuana to students.
After a tip was passed along to the narcotics team, they investigated the business, resulting in three search warrants last month.
The investigation into the alleged sale of nicotine and marijuana to minors is ongoing.
KCSO said that they want to "thank our community for its attentiveness, which keeps our community safer."
