Police identify victim in fatal Thursday shooting, rule death a homicide

The victim has been identified as 43-year-old Edward Antoine Kennedy. His death has been ruled a homicide.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — One man is dead after a shooting on Grand Rapids' southeast side Thursday night. 

Grand Rapids Police Department Chief Eric Winstrom says they received a call regarding shots fired around 9:25 p.m. on Worden Street between College and Madison avenues.

When officers arrived, they saw a large presence of people on the street and in a nearby home. 

Chief Winstrom says one man was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as 43-year-old Edward Antoine Kennedy. His death has been ruled a homicide.

At this time, Chief Winstrom says there is no suspect information. He does believe this was a targeted shooting. 

The investigation is ongoing.
