ISABELLA COUNTY, Mich. — The Isabella County Sheriff's Office (ICSO) is investigating a possible murder-suicide involving a 6-year-old boy and his father.
The boy and his father were found dead in a camper on the father's property on Wednesday, Aug. 21, ICSO said.
The father is suspected to have killed the son and then took his own life, the sheriff's office believes according to an initial investigation.
On Monday, Aug. 19, ICSO received a complaint from the mother of the 6-year-old boy claiming that the child was supposed to be returned to her custody but he was never brought to her.
ISCO said that law enforcement made attempts to locate the boy and his father over the next 24 hours, but were unable to find the two.
Law enforcement said they contacted a sibling of the boy, who also did not know where the two were.
A family member eventually discovered the deceased father after breaking out a window of a camper that was parked on the property, ICSO said. Law enforcement forced entry into the camper and found both the father and the boy dead inside.
This case is still under investigation.
