Shots fired at house near Grand Rapids Public Schools elementary school on city's south side

People were home at the time, Grand Rapids Police said, but no one was struck.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Someone fired shots into a house near a Grand Rapids Public Schools elementary school Wednesday morning. 

The Grand Rapids Police Department said it happened around 7:10 a.m. near the intersection of Griggs Street SE and Madison Avenue SE, which is close to Dickinson Elementary School. 

The school wasn't involved, and detectives didn't find evidence on school property, authorities said. 

Police said a home on Griggs Street was struck multiple times by gunfire. There were people inside at the time, authorities said, but no one was hurt. 

Investigators are working to find out what happened and track down those responsible.
