HOLLAND, Mich. — A gaming store owner has found himself in the same shoes as other local store owners after his store was broken into on Sunday.
"How can someone just want to just do this to, like, the small local shops and stuff? We're already struggling as it is,” said store owner Aaron Mooneyhan.
Super Hideaway Gaming owner Aaron Mooneyhan said he got a call on Sunday about a break-in at his store.
After making a 40-minute drive from his home, when he arrived at his store, he found his front door broken into and shelves empty.
"The moment I walked into the door, I was just like, Yep, he probably took all the expensive stuff. He probably took all the pricey stuff. And the moment I saw that door shattered, when I walked up, I just, I was like, I don't know what I do here. What do I do going forward? How do I fix this?" said Mooneyhan.
The thief took sets for Magic of the Gathering and trading cards, which totaled about $15,000.
The same items were stolen from other gaming stores in the area, including one in Grandville.
Because of this, he and other owners believe it is the same person behind these break-ins.
"We all think that he we know that he's either scoping these places out, or he's he knows what he's getting because he took all the expensive stuff,” said Mooneyhan.
Mooneyhan said he's working with his insurance to hopefully cover some of the items stolen--but has had to cancel orders.
He thinks surveillance video may have caught the suspect's vehicle on camera and posted the footage on the store's Facebook page:
The owner said the footage can hopefully lead to the suspect being caught, preventing this from happening to other store owners
"I just, all I ask with that support is they just keep eyes out so we can try and get this guy. I don't want local businesses hit, I don’t want local game stores being hit,” said Mooneyhan.
He encourages people to continue to support his and other gaming businesses that have been impacted by the break-ins.
