Two charged with open murder in 18-year-old man's August killing in Grand Rapids

Two suspects, aged 19 and 21, are both charged with open murder and felony firearms charges. They are both facing arraignment in the case.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Two men are facing open murder and other firearm charges in the shooting death of an 18-year-old man in August.

The Grand Rapids Police Department shared Wednesday that Abdirizak Abdiyow, 21, and Abdinajib Abdi, 19, are both linked to the killing of Paul Anthony Pearson.

The fatal shooting happened on Aug. 17 on the city's southwest side. 

Grand Rapids Police said Paul Anthony Pearson was shot during the early morning hours in the 100 block of Burton Street SW. 

The medical examiner completed the man's autopsy and said he died by homicide.
