Walker Police identify 36-year-old man killed in Plainfield Township

The Walker Police Department has identified the man shot and killed in Plainfield Township on Memorial Day.

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Walker Police have identified a 36-year-old man from Grand Rapids who was shot and killed early in the morning on Memorial Day in Plainfield Township.

Police say dispatch received a report of a man with a gunshot wound just after 4 a.m. in the 2600 block of Hillside Drive near Ferris Street. 

Howard Michael Anderson was found by officers inside a car suffering from a gunshot wound when they arrived on the scene.

Anderson was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Walker Police say that the shooting took place in a home on Pindell Avenue before Anderson was found in a car on the street.

The Kent County Sheriff's Office also investigated the crime scene Monday night and believe that the shooting took place inside of the home on Pindell Avenue during an altercation. 

Police are still investigating the case and working to identify any other people who may have been involved in the shooting.
