DELTA CHARTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A Lansing woman had cocaine in her system at the time of a fatal crash that left three people dead, according to court records.
Lori Leek, 56, of Lansing, pulled over on the side of Interstate 496 to assist a disabled vehicle parked between Waverly and Snow roads in Delta Township, according to a news release from the Eaton County Sheriff's Department.
She intended to jump start the disabled vehicle and pulled back into the roadway as she re-positioned her van.
A second vehicle traveling west on I-496 collided with Leek's van. The second vehicle was then struck by another vehicle. The disabled vehicle was not involved in the crash.
Kelly McNamara, 59; Linda Foote, 66; and Kevin Trusty, 57, were killed in the crash. All three were Lansing residents. Five others, including Leek, were injured.
McNamara, Foote and Trusty were all riding in the same vehicle.
Leek was charged with three felony counts of operating while intoxicated causing death, one felony count of operating while intoxicated causing serious injury and four misdemeanor moving violations causing death and serious injury.
Her attorney, Eric Tomal, did not respond for comment.
If convicted, she faces up to 15 years in prison for the OWI causing death charges.
