CASS COUNTY, Mich. — A driver is dead and their passenger is hurt after a crash near Jones, in Cass County.
Police say the crash happened just before midnight on Teasdale Lake Street west of Robbins Lake Road in Cass County's Porter Township.
The car was heading west on Teasdale Lake when it ran off the road, flipped and careened down a steep embankment, where it hit a tree. The driver died at the scene and their passenger was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Police tell us the driver was not wearing a safety belt, but the passenger was.
Officers said the driver was going too fast, and that drugs and alcohol are likely involved.
