A Muskegon elementary school is celebrating the fact it is no longer in the bottom five percent in the state.
The Michigan Department of Education removed Muskegon Public Schools' Nelson Elementary School from the Priority School list last month. The removal means the school no longer has to make Priority School Progress Monitoring Reports. Priority Schools are in the bottom five percent of the statewide Top to Bottom School Rankings.
A party was held at the school Wednesday, May 6. Nelson serves students in kindergarten to sixth grade.
