Semi filled with vegetables destroyed in fire

The driver was able to escape, but the trailer and the vegetables were damaged in the fire.

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. — There were no injuries after a semi-trailer loaded with vegetables went up in flames on I-196 near the 109th Avenue exit in Casco Township. 

South Haven Area Emergency Services said the trailer was destroyed by the fire that appeared to have started in the wheels of the trailer.  

The driver was able to escape, but the trailer and the vegetables were damaged. The call came in around 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 8.

A semi-trailer loaded with vegetables bound for Grand Rapids was destroyed by fire.

Northbound traffic on I-196 was backed up for several hours. The trailer was bound for Grand Rapids. There were no injuries in the incident.
