GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Gerald R. Ford International Airport and The Right Place made a major announce Tuesday morning involving Allegiant Air.
The Right Place, in collaboration with the Ford AIrport and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), announced that Allegiant Air will be opened a new base in Grand Rapids. The expansion will create at least 66 new jobs and a capital investment of $42.8 million.
Allegiant Air currently flies to seven non-stop destinations from the Ford Airport, including five in Florida, one in Arizona and one in Nevada.
The new base will house two Airbus-series aircraft in the city, bringing the resources and flexibility to serve even more routes. Two support the two aircraft's, the airline will establish a crew and maintenance base.
The MEDC is supporting the expansion with the approval of a $200,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant.
