(DETROIT FREE PRESS) - Cassandra Ferguson, the former Detroit Pistons dancer who has a 2-year-old son with Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey, made it to Week 6 on "The Bachelor," but her run ended Monday night.
Ferguson was dumped from the reality show by Juan Pablo Galavis during a group date on her 22nd birthday. Rough luck.
Now, your humble author did not watch the episode, but reports say that Ferguson was emotional about being away from son Trey while taping the show, and Galavis cited her need to return to motherhood when letting her go.
"It is very hard to say goodbye to Cassandra," Galavis reportedly said. "I just don't feel the connection is right there. At this point, my connection with some of the other girls, I think, is stronger, so I think it is the right time right now. She is just such a sweetheart, but I feel it is right for her to be with her son now."
Stuckey declined to comment about Ferguson's "Bachelor" adventure last month.
Here's an overall episode recap from USA TODAY: Week Six of "The Bachelor" started with the girls and Juan Pablo traveling to New Zealand. Andi got the first one-on-one date, and the two went on a boat ride and then a super-narrow cave walk thing. They enjoyed a steamy makeout session in a hot springs waterfall. She got a rose, too, ensuring her place in the competition for another week.
The group date involved a super-fun extreme sport of rolling down a hill in little things called Ogos. Then they all went to the Shire from "Lord of the Rings" for their cocktail party, which I feel that none of them fully appreciated, except maybe Sharleen. He sent Cassandra home early, on her 22nd birthday, no less. He gave her a weird reason about wanting to not keep her from her son any longer, and also that he just wasn't feeling a connection with her.
Then the next one-on-one date was with Claire, where the two of them finally had a chance to set the record straight about the "ocean incident" from last week. He halfway apologized, which was good enough for Claire! The two of them celebrated their reconciliation by changing into sweatpants and T-shirts and dancing to the same song they danced to on their first one-on-one way, back at the beginning of the season. Oh, and she got a rose.
Kat was sent home this week and now just six girls are left. The group travels to Juan Pablo's home next week: Miami!
