GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Great Giant Supermarket held its re-opening celebration Thursday, Jan. 10, which included raffles, pricing deals and samples from the new deli.
The grocery store now serves a community that previously did not have nearby access to buy fresh food.
The supermarket is located at 1226 Madison Ave. SE, a site that was previously the home of Duthler's Family Food.
The new owners invested $1 million for new refrigeration, to expand the fresh produce and quality product line, and to triple the meat department.
The new grocery store aims to be affordable, family friendly and philanthropic.
The owners say they are committed to giving back to people in need, and donating to local food pantries and churches.
