GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Cherry Health has announced a new behavioral health care option for residents in the region struggling with mental health.
Cherry Health Access is a same-day, walk-in behavioral health service offered at Cherry Health’s Heart of the City Health Center, located at 100 Cherry Street SE, in Grand Rapids.
“When people are seeking support for mental health or substance use concerns within the community, the amount of time it takes for them to access services is too long. Typically, they need support now, not weeks or months later. That’s where we come in,” said Bob Smith, Chief Behavioral Health Officer at Cherry Health. “Life brings hurdles to each of us. When people aren’t feeling like themselves, Cherry Health wants to be the provider of choice the community can rely on to meet them where they’re at. Our doors are open. We can give you the tools to help you clear life’s hurdles and get back to the life you love.”
The service will provide initial patient evaluations, preliminary diagnoses, education and brief interventions. Cherry Health Access also offers reviewing of treatment options and service availability.
Cherry Health Access will be the first point of contact with people seeking mental health services at the health center.
“Our focus is to provide a timely and accessible avenue to services that will improve the health and wellness of individuals in our community, granting access to comprehensive and coordinated health care. We’re here to help people go from overwhelming to overcoming.”
Cherry Health Access accepts urgent/walk-in mental health services Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. You can also call (616) 965-8308 to schedule an appointment.
