Take a look at which Michigan counties have positive cases of COVID-19.

There are thousands of COVID-19 cases across Michigan in nearly every county. Keep track of where the cases are and how many are reported in each county with this map: 

The state emphasizes that the report of cumulative data is "provisional and subject to change. As public health investigations of individual cases continue, there will be corrections to the status and details of referred cases that result in changes to this report."

THURSDAY, JUNE 4

State total: 58,241; Death total: 5,595

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 206 new cases of COVID-19,  bringing the total to 58,241.

The death toll increased by 25 and  the total is now 5,595. The deaths announced today includes 13 deaths identified during a Vital Records review.  

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3

State total: 58,035; Death total: 5,570

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 304 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 58,035.

The death toll increased by 17 and  the total is now 5,570.

TUESDAY, JUNE 2

State total: 57,731; Death total: 5,553

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 199 new cases of COVID-19 Monday, bringing the total to 57,731. 

The death toll increased by 37, which included 11 from a review of death certificate data; the total is now 5,553.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 135 new cases of COVID-19 Monday, bringing the total to 57,532. 

The death toll increased by 25; the total is now 5,516.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 513 new cases of COVID-19 Sunday, bringing the total to 57,397.

State total: 56,884; Death total: 5,463

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 263 new cases of COVID-19 Friday, bringing the total to 56,884.  

The death toll increased by 57, which included 37 from a review of death certificate data; the total is now 5,463.

The latest data on recoveries is from Friday, May 29. It shows that 38,099 people have recovered from the virus. The state updates this data every Saturday. A recovery is counted as anyone who is 30 days out from the onset of their symptoms.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 607 new cases of COVID-19 Friday, bringing the total to 56,621.  

The death toll increased by 34; the total is now 5,406.  

THURSDAY, MAY 28

State total: 56,014; Death total: 5,372

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reports 406 new cases of COVID-19, making the total 56,014. 

There were 38 daily deaths recorded; the statewide death toll is now 5,372. The deaths announced today includes 17 deaths identified during a Vital Records review.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 27

State total: 55,608; Death total: 5,334

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reports 504 new cases of COVID-19, making the total 55,608.

There were 68 daily deaths recorded; the statewide death toll is now 5,334. The deaths announced today includes 14 deaths identified during a Vital Records review.

TUESDAY, MAY 26

State total: 55,104; Death total: 5,226

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reports 223 new cases of COVID-19, making the total 55,104. 

There were 26 daily deaths recorded; the statewide death toll is now 5,226.


MONDAY, MAY 25

State total: 54,881; Death total: 5,240

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 202 new cases Monday, making the total 54,881.

There were 12 new deaths recorded, bringing the total death toll to 5,240.

SUNDAY, MAY 24

State total: 54,679; Death total: 5,228

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 314 new cases of COVID-19 Sunday, bringing the total to 54,679. 

The daily death rate increased by 5, the lowest since the beginning of the pandemic when 3 new deaths were reported on March 22.

SATURDAY, MAY 23

State total: 54,365; Death total: 5,223

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 452 confirmed cases of COVID-19 Saturday, making the total 54,365.   

There were 65 new deaths reported, which included 44 deaths from a review of death certificate data; the total death toll in the state is 5,223.

FRIDAY, MAY 22

State total: 53,913; Death total: 5,158

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 403 new cases of COVID-19 Friday, making the total 53,913. 

They also recorded 29 daily deaths, making the total death toll in the state 5,158. 

THURSDAY, MAY 21

State total: 53,510; Death total: 5,129

The state of Michigan reported 53,510 total cases of COVID-19 and 5,129 total deaths. As of Thursday, 501 of the cases are new and 69 deaths are new. 

According to the state, 31 of those deaths didn't actually happen the day before and came from a regular review of vital records done three times per week.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 20

State total: 53,009; Death total: 5,060

The number of total cases of COVID-19 is now at 53,009 and 5,060 have died from the virus. As of Wednesday, May 20 the 659 more case were confirmed and 43 more deaths.

TUESDAY, MAY 19

State total: 52,350; Death total: 5,017

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 435 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, bringing the total to 52,350.

The daily death count reached 102--the first time in 10 days the count exceeded 100. But it includes 43 deaths from a regular review of death certificate data. The death toll has reached 5,017.

MONDAY, MAY 18

State total: 51,915; Death total: 4,915

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 773 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total to 51,915. This uptick is due to enhanced testing within the Michigan Department of Corrections, which accounts for 513 of the day's cases.  

There were 24 deaths recorded, bringing the total to 4,915.  

SUNDAY, MAY 17

State total: 51,142; Death total: 4,891

Sunday the state reported 638 new cases of COVID-19 and 11 new deaths from the virus. There are now 4,891 deaths and 51,142 cases of coronavirus.

SATURDAY, MAY 16

State total: 50,504; Death total: 4,880

In the state's Saturday update, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 425 new cases and 55 new deaths. The total number of cases is 50,504 and 4,880 have died.

FRIDAY, MAY 15

State total: 50,079; Death total: 4,825

The state reported 497 new cases 38 new deaths on Friday, May 15. The total number of cases is 50,079 and 4,825 have died, according to the data from Michigan's Dept. of Health and Human Services.

THURSDAY, MAY 14

State total: 49,582; Death total: 4,787

Thursday the state of Michigan reported a total of 49,582 cases of COVID-19 and 4,787 total deaths. There were 1,191 new cases reported Thursday and 73 new deaths.

According to the state, today's numbers include 35 additional deaths identified through regular review of death certificates, which happens three times per week. The number of cases is also up significantly due to several factors, according to the state.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 13

State total: 48,391; Death total: 4,714

Wednesday the state reported 48,391 total cases of COVID-19; 370 of those cases are new today. The state of Michigan is also reporting 4,714 deaths; 40 of which are new today.  

TUESDAY, MAY 12

State total: 48,021; Death total: 4,674

The state reported 469 new cases 90 new deaths on Tuesday, May 12. The total number of cases is 48,021 and 4,674 have died, according to the data from Michigan's Department of Health and Human Services. 

Nineteen of the deaths recorded Tuesday were found during a review of death certificate data and did not necessarily take place in the last 24 hours.  According to the state's website, three times a week MDHHS staff reviews records to determine if any COVID-19 related deaths have not been accounted for.

MONDAY, MAY 11

State total: 47,552; Death total: 4,584

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reports 414 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 47,552. There were 33 new deaths reported. The death toll has reached 4,584.

SUNDAY, MAY 10

State total: 47,138; Death total: 4,551

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reports 382 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 47,138. 

There were 25 deaths reported, which is the lowest since March 29. However, the daily death counts tend to drop on Sundays. The death toll has reached 4,551.

SATURDAY, MAY 9

State total: 46,756; Death total: 4,526

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reports 430 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 46,756. 

There were 133 deaths reported, which includes 67 additional deaths from a regular review of death certificate data. The death toll has reached 4,526. 

The latest data on recoveries is from Saturday, May 9. It shows that 22,686 people have recovered from the virus. The state updates this data every Saturday. A recovery is counted as anyone who is 30 days out from the onset of their symptoms.  

FRIDAY, MAY 8

State total: 46,326; Death total: 4,393

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 680 new cases of coronavirus on Friday, bringing the total to 46,326.  

There were 50 deaths reported, making the death toll 4,393.  

THURSDAY, MAY 7

State total: 45,646; Death total: 4,343

As of Thursday the state is reporting at total of 45,646 cases and 4,343 deaths. There are 592 new cases of the virus and 93 new deaths.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 6

State total: 45,054; Death total: 4,250

The state is reporting 45,054 total cases of COVID-19 and 4,250 total deaths from the virus. 

There were 657 new cases reported today from the state along with 71 new deaths.  

TUESDAY, MAY 5

State total: 44,397; Death total: 4,179

The state reported 447 new cases and 44 deaths on Tuesday, May 5. Eight of those 44 deaths were from the most recent review of death records.

The total case count is now at 44,397 and 4,179 people have died, according to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

MONDAY, MAY 4

State total: 43,950; Death total: 4,135

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 196 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, however these numbers are lower due to a backlog of data. The total number of cases is now at 43,950.

There were 86 deaths reported Monday, but the state again said, there is a backlog in the data. The death toll has reached 4,135.

MDHHS said the software that collects the thousands of test results stopped processing messages Sunday evening. The issue has been resolved, but there is still a backlog in the data. The numbers published Monday were what was processed as of 4 p.m. 

SUNDAY, MAY 3

State total: 43,754; Death total: 4,049

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 547 new cases of coronavirus on Sunday. This brings the total to 43,754. 

There were 29 deaths recorded, which is the lowest increase since 21 deaths were reported on March 29. The death toll has reached 4,049.

The Michigan Department of Corrections reports 1,844 cases and 42 deaths. The Federal Corrections Institute reports 92 cases and two deaths.

SATURDAY, MAY 2

State total: 43,207; Death total: 4,020

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 851 confirmed cases of coronavirus on Saturday, bringing the total to 43,207. There was a dip in new cases last weekend, but cases hovered around 1,000 for most of the week. 

There were 154 deaths recorded, which included 75 from the review of death certificate data. The death toll has now reached 4,020. The state health department reviews death certificate data three times a week. 

The state health department is updating the number of recoveries on Saturdays. Current data shows that 15,659 people have recovered from the virus in Michigan. This nearly double the 8,342 recoveries from last Saturday. A recovery is counted as a confirmed COVID-19 patient who is 30 days out from the onset of their symptoms.

The Michigan Department of Corrections reports 1,825 cases and 42 deaths from the virus. The Federal Corrections Unit has 93 cases and two deaths.

FRIDAY, MAY 1

State total: 42,356; Death total: 3,866

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 977 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the total to 42,356. The number of daily cases has hovered around 1,000 the past couple of days.

There were 77 deaths reported, making the death toll 3,866. 

The Michigan Department of Corrections has 1,560 confirmed cases and 42 deaths. The Federal Corrections Institute reports 90 cases and two deaths.

THURSDAY, APRIL 30

State total: 41,379; Death total: 3,789

The total number of cases is now 41,379 and 3,789 people have died, according to data from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.  

The state reported 980 new cases and 119 new deaths on Thursday. However, 40 of those deaths have accumulated over a period longer than just the last 24 hours. The state is reviewing death certificate data three times per week and adding in those deaths as they are reviewed.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 29 

State total: 40,399; Death total: 3,670

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 1,137 new cases and 103 more deaths on April 29.

The statewide total is now 40,399 cases and 3,670 deaths, according to MDHHS data.

Michigan Dept. of Corrections is reporting 1,264 cases and 41 deaths and the Federal Corrections Institution is reporting 86 cases and 1 death.

TUESDAY, APRIL 28 

State total: 39,262; Death total: 3,567

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 1,052 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday. There are now 39,262 confirmed cases in the state. Today's case count is leap from Monday's 432, which was the lowest daily number of cases in over a month. 

The state recorded 160 deaths Tuesday, which included 40 deaths from a review of death certificate data.The death toll has reached 3,567. 

There are 1,074 cases within the Michigan Department of Corrections and 38 deaths. The Federal Correctional Institute reports 82 cases and one death.

MONDAY, APRIL 27 

State total: 38,210; Death total: 3,407

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 432 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, making the total 38,210. This is the lowest daily case count since March 23. 

There were 92 new deaths reported. The total death toll has reached 3,407. 

The Michigan Department of Corrections reports 1,048 cases and 37 deaths. There are 785 cases at one facility, the Lakeland Correctional Facility in Branch County. 

The Federal Correctional Institute has 81 cases and one death.

SUNDAY, APRIL 26

State total: 37,778; Death total: 3,315

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 575 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday. The case count has been fluctuating over the past 10 days, peaking at 1,350 on Friday before dipping to 562 on Saturday. 

The state also reported the lowest daily death count in nearly a month. There were 41 deaths reported Sunday, bringing the total to 3,315. On March 29, the death toll was at 29 before it started to consistently climb.

The Michigan Department of Corrections reported 1,031 cases with 32 deaths. MDOC is working to test an entire Branch County prison, which houses 1,400 inmates. The Federal Corrections Institute reports 81 cases and one death.

SATURDAY, APRIL 25

State total: 37,203; Death total: 3,274

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 562 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, bringing the total to 37,203.  

There were 189 deaths reported, but state health officials say 58 of those were added from reviewing death certificate data from the past couple of days. If a death certificate matches a confirmed COVID-19 case, it will be counted on the Michigan coronavirus website. The total number of death has reached 3,274.

The state health department is updating the number of recoveries on Saturdays. Current data shows that 8,342 people have recovered from the virus in Michigan. This is an increase of about 5,000 from last Saturday. 

The Michigan Department of Corrections reported 1,026 cases and 31 deaths. There are 74 cases within the Federal Corrections institute.  

FRIDAY, APRIL 24

State total: 36,641; Death total: 3,085

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 1,350 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the state total to 36,641. 

The number of deaths recorded Friday was 108. There are now 3,085 Michiganders who have died from coronavirus. 

The Michigan Department of Corrections is reporting 973 cases of COVID-19 and 28 deaths. There are 68 cases within the Federal Corrections Institute. 

THURSDAY, APRIL 23

State total: 35,291; Death total: 2,977

The state reported 1,325 new cases and 164 new deaths, but 55 of those deaths have accumulated over a period longer than the last 24 hours. The total number of cases in Michigan is 35,291 and the death toll is 2,977, according to data from the Department of Health and Human Services.

The Michigan Department of Corrections is reporting 759 cases and 28 deaths, and the Federal Correctional Institute is reporting 66 cases.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 22 

State total: 33,966; Death total: 2,813

There are 999 new cases and 113 new deaths as of Wednesday morning, according to data from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. The total number of cases is now at 33,966 and the death toll is 2,813.

TUESDAY, APRIL 21

State total: 32,967; Death total: 2,700

State data released April 21 shows an uptick in both cases and deaths after several days of declining numbers. The Department of Health and Human Services reported 967 new cases and 232 new deaths, however, those new deaths included 95 deaths from the previous week.

MONDAY, APRIL 20

State total: 32,000; Death total: 2,468

The state reported 576 new cases and 77 new deaths on April 20, which brings the statewide total to 32,000 cases and 2,468 deaths. This is the fourth day in a row that the daily case count was below 1,000. 

SUNDAY, APRIL 19

State total: 31,424; Death total: 2,391

In Sunday's update, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 633 new cases of COVID-19, making the total 31,424. This is the third day in a row that the daily case count was below 1,000. 

State officials also recorded 83 daily deaths; the death toll is now 2,391.  

SATURDAY, APRIL 18

State total: 30,791; Death total: 2,308

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services said there were 768 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, bringing the total to 30,791. This is the second day in a row and the fourth day this week where the daily case count was below 1,000.  

State officials also reported 81 new deaths, which is the lowest daily death toll since April 5. The total number of deaths has reached 2,308.  

On Saturdays, the state is also updating the number of recoveries, which has reached 3,237. A recovery is classified as anyone who is a confirmed COVID-19 case and 30 days out from the onset of their symptoms.  

FRIDAY, APRIL 17

State total: 30,023; Death total: 2,227

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 760 new cases of coronavirus Friday, bringing the total to 2,227.

There were 134 deaths reported; Michigan's death toll has reached 2,227.

THURSDAY, APRIL 16

State total: 29,263; Death total: 2,093

On Thursday the number of deaths from COVID-19 reached over 2,000 in the state of Michigan. There are a total of 29,263 cases of the virus. 1,204 cases are new today and 172 deaths were reported new today.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15

State total: 28,059; Death total: 1,921

On Wednesday the state reported 1,058 new cases of COVID-19 and 153 new deaths. The total number of cases is now 28,059 and the virus has killed 1,921 people.  

People protested at the capitol building in Lansing on Wednesday. It's called Operation Gridlock and people protested the governor's stay at home order.

TUESDAY, APRIL 14

State total: 27,001; Death total: 1,768

On Tuesday, Michigan's cases of COVID-19 reached 27,001 with 1,366 new cases being reported. This is more than double the number of cases that were reported on Sunday, when state officials said the number might be lagging due to reduced weekend testing. 

The state reported 166 new deaths, making the death toll 1,768. This is the second highest daily death count since the pandemic started.

MONDAY, APRIL 13

State total: 24,638; Death total: 1,487

On Monday, Michigan's cases reached 25,635 with 995 new cases. This is the second day in a row that daily cases dropped below 1,000. 

There were 115 new deaths reported, to make the total number of deaths 1,602. 

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said they are "cautiously optimistic" as the rate of new cases appears to be slowing down. 


SUNDAY, APRIL 12

State total: 24,638; Death total: 1,487

Michigan saw a significant decline in the number of cases and deaths reported on Sunday, but state health officials are cautiously saying it might not represent a "true decline." 

Sunday's daily update showed there were 645 new cases, which is about half the number reported on Saturday. This brings the total to 24,638. 

There were 95 new deaths, bringing the death toll to 1,487. This is the first day in a week that the death toll has dipped below 100.

State health official said the decline could be due to reduced testing over the holiday weekend. 

SATURDAY, APRIL 11

State total: 23,993; Death total: 1392

In Michigan's daily update on COVID-19, the state reported 1,210 new cases making the total 23,993. 

On Saturdays, the state will also provide an update on recovered cases. There are now 433 Michiganders who have recovered from the virus. There were 111 new deaths, which is a dip from Friday's spike. The total of deaths has reached 1,392.  

FRIDAY, APRIL 10

State total: 22,783; Death total: 1,281

In the daily update for Friday, the state eported an increase of 1,279 coronavirus cases, bringing the total to 22,783. 

Also, state officials reported the highest daily death total to date of 205. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said earlier in the day the death toll was 206. However, the state's official death toll is now 1,281. 

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services later clarified that the death total Friday included 30 additional deaths from past death certificate data. The state will review death certificates weekly. If a patient who dies is matched to a confirmed COVID-19 case, this will count towards the state's death toll.

The Michigan Department of Corrections reports that 338 inmates and 142 staff members have tested positive for COVID-19. There are cases at 13 of the state's 29 prisons. Five inmates have died from the virus. See a breakdown of cases within Michigan's prison system here

THURSDAY, APRIL 9

State total: 21,504; Death total: 1,076

In the state's daily update, Michigan recorded 1,158 new COVID-19 cases, making the total 21,504. 

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 8

State total: 20,346; Death total: 959

In the Wednesday afternoon update state officials announced 1,376 new cases of COVID-19 bringing the total to 20,346. 

The state is also reporting 114 new deaths from the virus and 959 total deaths.

TUESDAY, APRIL 7

State total: 18,970; Death total: 845

State officials reported 1,749 new cases, bringing the total to 18,970. It's been four weeks since the first COVID-19 cases were reported in Michigan.  

The death toll has reached 845, with the highest daily death count of 118 being reported on Tuesday. 

The Michigan Department of Corrections reports a total of 262 inmates and 107 staff members have tested positive for COVID-19. There are cases at 10 of the state's 29 prisons. 

MONDAY, APRIL 6

State total: 17,221; Death total: 727

The state reported an additional 1,503 cases and 110 deaths on Monday. This is the highest daily death toll recorded to date. The state total is now 17,221 and 727 deaths. The average age of patients dying from the virus is 71.8 years old.

The Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) is reporting 241 inmate cases. 

SUNDAY, APRIL 5

State total: 15,718; Death total: 617

State health officials reported 1,493 new cases in Sunday's 3 p.m. update. This about how many were recorded on Saturday as well. 

The total number of cases has reached 15,718. The city of Detroit has over 4,400 cases, with the three-county metro Detroit region reporting about 80% of the state's total. 

The death toll rose by 77, bringing the total to 617.

The Michigan Department of Corrections is reporting 238 cases.

SATURDAY, APRIL 4

State total: 14,225; Death total: 540

In the daily state update at 3 p.m., health officials said there were 1,481 new cases Saturday bringing the total to 14,225.

The death toll rose by 61; the virus has killed a total of 540 people in Michigan. 

The Michigan Department of Corrections has 188 cases. 

The latest testing data from Friday at 1 p.m. shows that nearly 38,000 specimens have been tested and about 9,770 those came back positive.

FRIDAY, APRIL 3

State total: 12,744; Death total: 479

State health officials reported 1,953 new COVID-19 cases in Friday's 3 p.m. update. This brings Michigan's total to 12,744. 

There were 62 deaths recorded; the death toll has reached 479. The age range on the deaths goes from the youngest victim of 20 years old to the oldest victim being 107 years old. 

There are 187 cases within the Michigan Department of Corrections. 

The state also started reporting the breakdown of cases by race. This data shows 35% of cases are black or African people, 20% are Caucasian, 35% are unknown and small percentages are Asian or Pacific Islander or multiple races.  

THURSDAY, APRIL 2

STATE TOTAL: 10,791 cases, 417 deaths

The state reported 1,457 new cases and 80 new deaths. The total case count is now 10,791 and the death toll has reached 417. 

The age range of patients who have died from the virus is 20-107 years old on Thursday. On Wednesday, the youngest patient to die was 25. 

The state is also now including the race of those both who have the virus and who have died from the virus. Thursday's data shows 40% of those who have died from COVID-19 in Michigan were black or African American people. Black or African American people have 35% of the state's cases. 

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1

STATE TOTAL: 9,334 cases, 337 deaths

The state reported 1,719 new cases on April 1, bringing the state total to 9,334. The death toll has now hit 337, with 78 new deaths reported Wednesday.

According to the Michigan Department of Corrections, 141 inmates and 25 employees have tested positive for the virus. 

Twenty percent of Michigan cases are in people ages 50 to 59, and men have accounted for 65% of COVID-19 deaths in the state. State data shows the youngest person to die from the virus was 25 and the oldest was 107. 

TUESDAY, MARCH 31

STATE TOTAL: 7,615 cases, 259 deaths

Michigan officials reported 1,117 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, making it the second day in a row daily cases topped 1,000. The total number of cases is at 7,615.

There were 75 deaths, bringing the death toll to 259. 

Confirmed cases within the Michigan Department of Corrections are at 93.

MONDAY, MARCH 30

STATE TOTAL: 6,498 cases, 184 deaths

State health officials said Monday coronavirus cases reached 6,498. There were 52 new deaths reported, making the death toll 184.

STATE TOTAL: 5,486 cases, 132 deaths

Sunday, the state reported 836 new cases, bringing the total to 5,486. The number of cases within the Michigan Department of Corrections rose to 77. 

There were 21 new deaths; the death toll has reached 132. 

SATURDAY, MARCH 28

STATE TOTAL: 4,650 cases, 111 deaths

State officials reported 993 new COVID-19 cases in the state, bringing the total to 4,650. This again broke the daily record for new cases. 

There were also 19 new deaths, and the death roll reached 111. There are a total of 47 cases in the Michigan Department of Corrections.

FRIDAY, MARCH 27

STATE TOTAL: 3,657 cases, 92 deaths

The state reported its largest jump yet with 801 new cases and 32 deaths. The state is also longer reporting new counties by county. 

THURSDAY, MARCH 26

STATE TOTAL: 2,856 cases, 60 deaths

State total rises to 2,856 cases and death toll is at 60 as of 10 a.m. Thursday.

There are 564 new cases in the state and 17 newly reported deaths, according to numbers from the state's health department.

Saturday, state health officials announced another person has died from COVID-19, making it the fifth death in Michigan. 

*Three additional deaths were reported after the state's numbers were released, making the total eight:

  • Henry Ford Hospital also announced a death, which was the sixth person to die from coronavirus.
  • Spectrum Health and Kent County also reported their first death of a patient with COVID-19, bringing the state total to seven. 
  • Macomb County health officials announced their first death

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reports 238 new coronavirus cases, making the total 787.

Allegan County health officials reported their first case Saturday afternoon. This one is not included in the state's 2 p.m. tally.

A fourth patient with COVID-19 died, according to Oakland County health officials. The patient was a man in his 50s who had an underlying health condition.

State officials confirmed 225 additional COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the state total 549.

Separate from the state's daily total, additional cases have now been reported in both Ottawa and Barry counties. The Ottawa County patient is an adult female, and is the county's second case.

THURSDAY, MARCH 19

STATE TOTAL: 334 cases, 3 deaths

State officials confirmed 254 additional COVID-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the total to 334. These cases include the 30 reported on Wednesday, as well. This number has jumped due to the fact that results from additional labs have been included in the state's count.

Two Michigan hospitals also reported COVID-19 related deaths Thursday. A hospital in Pontiac, Mich. reported a woman in her 50s with underlying health conditions died Wednesday. Another patient at a Detroit hospital also died Wednesday. That patient was 81-years-old. 

The state's total deaths related to the virus is now up to 3.

Editor's note: Originally the state reported 256 cases, and a 336 total, however, two cases were later removed from that count.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 18

STATE TOTAL: 110

A Wayne County hospital reported the first COVID-19 related death in the state. The patient is a man in his 50s who had underlying health conditions. He passed away early Wednesday at a Beaumont hospital, according to Beaumont Health.

Fifteen new cases were also confirmed at 2 p.m. Wednesday by state officials.

At a 4 p.m. press conference, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Chief Medical Executive Dr. Joneigh Khaldun said there are at least 30 additional cases as of this afternoon. Two of those cases are here in Kent County, according to the health department. Another one of those cases includes an 88-year-old Eaton County woman who recently traveled domestically, according to county health officials. The state total is now 110.

TUESDAY, MARCH 17

STATE TOTAL: 65

Eleven new cases have been confirmed by state officials, bringing the state total to 65.

The state is now only providing the gender and location of people with COVID-19. However, there is now a cumulative breakdown of the cases thus far. According to the state, 25 of the 65 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized and 58% of patients are men. The age group with the highest percentage of cases are those ages 60 to 69.

State officials said Monday there is one additional case of the coronavirus in Michigan, bringing the total to 54.

Michigan officials are changing the way they are reporting cases as well. Every day at 2 p.m., an updated tally of cases will be posted on the state coronavirus website. The health department will provide numbers for the cases and deaths by county, the cases by age range and the cases by sex. 

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services will no longer report the number of persons under investigation, tests pending, referred for assessment and/or monitoring to date and total assessment and/or monitoring referrals under active monitoring.

The state's final numbers on Sunday show that there are 20 additional cases, which is the highest number of new cases report in one day so far. The 20 cases include the state's first case in a child. 

There are two additional cases in Kent County, bringing the total to five. Ottawa County has its first case, and the patient is bring treated at Holland Hospital.

The new cases show evidence of community spread.

On Saturday, Michigan officials announced there are eight more positive cases of COVID-19 in the state. This brings the total to 33.

  • Oakland County, man with unknown travel history.
  • Oakland County, woman with history of contact with someone with a confirmed case.

  • Monroe County, woman with history of domestic travel.
  • Wayne County, woman with unknown travel history and no known contact with someone with a confirmed case.
  • Washtenaw County, woman with history of contact with symptomatic person who had international travel history. 

The state has 172 Persons Under Investigation (PUI), which means they have been approved for testing. There have been 205 tests that came back negative for COVID-19.

  • Two men from Oakland County; one with no travel history and one with domestic travel.
