GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Retirement and senior living communities in West Michigan are keeping residents safe by restricting visitors during coronavirus concerns.

Sunset Retirement Communities and Services is restricting visitations through March 31 at the following locations:

  • Rose Garden Homes
  • Waterford Place
  • The Manor & Villages
  • Brookcrest

Please call the facility for additional details.

Grace of Douglas is also restricting visitors. They implemented their limitations on March 11. The facility established visiting hours between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. However, leaders are asking family members not to visit unless it's absolutely necessary.

Holland Home released a statement Friday announcing they are banning visitors at its Assisted Living and Nursing units. Only those on hospice may receive visitation. Hospice family members will however be turned away if they answer yes to the following:

  • Signs and symptoms of a respiratory infection such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat.
  • Had contact in the past 14 days with someone with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19, or under investigation for COVID-19.
  • Are ill with respiratory illness.
  • Traveled internationally within the last 14 days to countries with sustained community transmission.
  • Reside in a community where community-based spread of COVID-19 is occurring.
  • Have a temperature of over 100 degrees.

All large group activities including chapel services are also cancelled.
