Spectrum Health Long-Term Care, the second largest skilled nursing community in Michigan, is excited to host its 12th annual car show for patients and residents on Saturday, July 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This car show serves as a reminiscent and therapeutic event for elderly patients to take a roll down memory lane. It is also free and open to the public! Spectrum Health employees Stacie Carter, Recreational Therapy, and Terri Morse, Volunteer Coordinator, stopped by to talk about this special car show coming up that will be fun for the entire family!
The community, staff, friends and family are all invited to bring their hotrods, muscle cars or classic cars to the car show and share with residents and patients. The first 100 cars get entered into the show for free. The show boasts not only antique cars, but newer vehicles, Jeeps, Corvettes, motorcycles and more. Admission and lunch is free for the community, so stop by!
Patients and residents will submit their votes for a People's Choice Award after viewing the cars, and at the end of the show, three awards are given to car owners chosen by the residents. Jason Wise a former Rehab Patient will be the DJ and musician for the event. More than 165 cars were in the show last year and nearly 150 residents attended the event!
Long-term care residents look forward to this event every year. It’s a morale booster and a fun way to take a nostalgic look back in time at some of the older cars many of the residents once owned or drove.
