MUSKEGON, Mich. — Trinity Health said it still accepts a number of insurances after a patient shared a sign at a Muskegon urgent care.
The posting showed a list of insurances it no longer accepts, and patients must self-pay and sign a financial waiver. Insurances included Priority Health Medicaid, McLaren plans, HAP Empowered, Meridian commercial plans, Multiplan and Physicians Health Plan.
"The list of insurances was posted in error," read a statement by Trinity Health Urgent Care leadership team, in part.
The statement from Trinity Health explains the operations of four urgent cares were transitioned from Premier Urgent Care earlier this year. Some Medicaid contracts were not transferred.
However, the leadership said they will continue to accept the insurances and will be seeing patients at its own risk.
The full statement reads:
"In early October, the operations of four urgent cares located in West Michigan were transitioned from a former vendor, Premier Urgent Care, back to Trinity Health.
The Medicaid contracts in question could not be transferred as part of the reacquisition so the Trinity Health Urgent Care team is actively working internally to finalize these contracts.
Although our urgent cares are not receiving payment for these services currently, we do not want patients to have a disruption in their care. We continue to accept these insurances and are currently seeing patients at our own risk with the hope that this billing situation will be resolved. The list of insurances was posted in error.
If at some time in the future, we cannot fully engage with these Medicaid payers, we may no longer be able to see these patients. Should this situation occur, we would communicate with patients and offer information on alternative care options."
