KENTWOOD, Mich. — Update: The individual who died has been identified as 26-year-old Jamey Lee Steffens.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined as of Thursday, April 23.
Original story: The Kentwood Police Department and Kentwood Fire Department continue to investigate a fire that killed a man Wednesday night.
The fire occurred around 9:30 p.m. on April 22 at 347 Maplelawn Street SE and Madison Avenue, fire officials say.
When crews arrived, fire was filling at least one room in the home, leaving extensive damage.
More information will be released as the investigation continues.
