KDPS: 13-year-old in critical condition after being shot

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A 13-year-old is in critical condition after being shot on Friday morning, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety. 

KDPS said around 11:05 a.m. officers responded to a shooting in the 1000 block of Interfaith Boulevard. 

When they arrived, officers said they found a 13-year-old with a gunshot wound. 

KDPS said they provided the teen with medical attention at the scene and he was taken to a local hospital where he's still in critical condition. 

Officers said the Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the shooting. They said a firearm that they believe was involved has been recovered. They've also interviewed several people. 

Officers said at this time, no arrests have been made. 

KDPS said they will continue to provide updates as the investigation progresses.
