SPRINGFIELD, Michigan — The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office is asking the public for information as they investigate a string of break-ins in Springfield.

CCSO said on Friday, Aug. 16 around 1:25 p.m. deputies responded to a breaking and entering complaint in the 100 block of Avenue B.

Initial dispatch information showed three people attempted to break into a home overnight and had stolen items from a vehicle parked in the driveway.

Deputies said upon arrival, they spoke with the woman who lived there, watched video surveillance and collected potential evidence.

CCSO said they suspect the crime occurred the night before. The area was searched for suspects, but no one was found.

Throughout the day, additional calls came from residents who said their cars were broken into overnight, with items reported stolen or missing.

The CCSO Detective Bureau is helping in the investigation.

Deputies said items collected at the scene have been examined and they have possible suspect information.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact Lieutenant Smith at (269) 781-0880. Anonymous tips can also be provided through Silent Observer at (269) 964-3888.
