GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Grand Rapids Police Department is hoping you can help them identify two men who may have been witness to Wednesday's homicide on the city's southwest side.
Police believe they may have been in the area when a Grand Rapids mother was gunned down in her car on Commerce Avenue SW on Wednesday.
The family later identified her as 22-year-old Leah Marie Gomez. She left behind a soon to be 2-year-old daughter, who was in the car with Gomez during the shooting. The child was not hurt in the incident.
GRPD is also on the lookout for 27-year-old Luis "Fabian" Bernal-Sosa, who has become the person of interest in this case.
Grand Rapids Police Chief Eric Winstrom said the shooting was an "absolute tragedy" and expressed anger at the situation.
Anyone who recognizes these two men, or have any tips related to this case is asked to call GRPD detectives at 616-456-3380, or send an anonymous tip through Silent Observer.
