GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A "peace vigil" was held by the community at Horton Avenue on Saturday where three people were killed in the Burton Heights neighborhood last week.
The vigil included a lighting of candles, a moment of silence and an update on the investigation by the Grand Rapids Police Department.
Grand Rapids Police Chief Eric Winstrom says while he can't elaborate on specific details, the detectives are doing "tremendous work" and meeting on a regular basis.
He says the police department has already issued over 10 search warrants related to the case and many resources have been devoted to it.
"I'm confident that we're going to find justice for these family members and being out here today, very emotional for them," Winstrom said. "And now, I kind of took this one personally, I guess, and now I'm taking it even more personally now that I met the family members. They want answers and hope that we can get them sooner than later."
