25-year-old man charged in Grand Rapids homicide

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A man has been charged in connection to the shooting death of 25-year-old Ta'Rique Dodge.

James Goins, 25, is facing charges of open murder and felony firearm. He was charged Monday, Nov. 20 and was lodged at the Kent County Jail on Friday.

The shooting happened in the early morning hours of Sunday, Nov. 12 in the 1000 block of McReynolds Street NW. 

Dodge arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds around 3 a.m. He died at the hospital shortly after arriving.

His death was ruled a homicide. 

Goins will be arraigned in the 61st District Court.
