KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A 62-year-old Kalamazoo man was found dead Sunday morning and police have arrested a suspect.
According to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS), officers responded to a report of a dead body in the 800 Block of East Crosstown Parkway around 10:30 a.m.
Police have identified the victim as Heriberto Contreras. They say he was found dead in an outside area that's "frequented by the unhoused."
Officials say KDPS Detectives and the Crime Lab responded to the incident to investigate the death as a homicide.
The investigation led to a suspect, who was then arrested. KDPS says the suspect’s name will not be released until after an arraignment which is expected later this week.
