Man who stopped to help dog on M-6 hit, killed by vehicle

The 25-year-old man stopped to help a dog on M-6, Michigan State Police say.

KENT COUNTY, Mich. — A man was hit and killed on M-6, the Michigan State Police say.

Troopers responded to a fatal vehicle vs. pedestrian crash on eastbound M-6 near Kraft around noon Saturday. 

The initial report states that a man was outside of his vehicle and in the median when an eastbound vehicle lost control and went into the median, hitting him. 

Deputies have identified the pedestrian as a 25-year-old man from Hastings. According to police, the man was towing vehicles when he stopped to assist a dog that was allegedly in the median. 

The incident is currently being investigated by Michigan State Police.
