Newaygo man injured in Friday afternoon shooting

The suspect is being charged with felonious assault and felony firearms, according to deputies.

NEWAYGO COUNTY, Mich. — One man is injured after being shot in the leg Friday afternoon. 

According to the Newaygo County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the 1000 block of S. Walnut Avenue in Everett Township around noon for a shots fired complaint. 

When deputies arrived, they found a man on the ground who had been shot in the leg. 

The initial investigation shows two men at the home got into a fight which led to the shooting, deputies said. 

The victim, a 30-year-old man from Newaygo, was taken to a local hospital for treatment. 

The suspect, a 38-year-old man from White Cloud, was taken into custody at the scene. Deputies said he's being charged with felonious assault and felony firearms. 

According to troopers, he's currently being held in the Newaygo County Jail pending an arraignment.
