MSP: Reward being offered for information leading to conviction of people shooting transformers

Michigan State Police said they're investigating 14 different incidents of gunshot damage to transformers, regulators and other electric system equipment.

IONIA COUNTY, Mich. — A reward is being offered to anyone with information that leads to the discovery of who has been shooting and damaging transformers in three Michigan counties. 

Michigan State Police said they're investigating 14 different incidents of gunshot damage to transformers, regulators and other electric system equipment over the past year. 

The incidents have happened mostly during overnight hours in Clinton, Eaton and Ionia Counties, MSP said. 

According to MSP, the damages total more than $250,000 and have resulted in electric outages for HomeWorks members. 

The Electric Co-up is offering a reward of $9,999 to anyone who has information on the incidents that could lead to finding and convicting those responsible for the damage.
