SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. — The South Haven Police Department has launched an investigation into anti-Semitic fliers that were distributed in several neighborhoods overnight.

SHPD said officers responded to reports of the fliers and have identified a suspect through an investigation.

Officers said they made contact with the suspect, and while no formal charges have been filed yet, they're working closely with local prosecutors on the incident.

"The South Haven Police Department condemns in the strongest terms the distribution of anti-Semitic fliers found in our community," the department said in a release. "These hateful messages do not reflect the values of our city, and we are actively investigating this incident to hold those responsible accountable."

SHPD said they've increased patrols in the areas where fliers were distributed.

Police asked anyone with additional information to come forward to help with the investigation.

"The South Haven Police Department stands in solidarity with the Jewish community and all who reject hate in any form," the department said in a release. "We will continue to work with community leaders and organizations to foster an inclusive and respectful environment in the City of South Haven."
