BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — After nearly a month-long investigation, the Battle Creek Police Department (BCPD) arrested a 68-year-old man on charges of solicitation on Thursday.

On Oct. 29, BCPD and Lakeview Public Schools were informed of allegations of inappropriate conduct involving a Lakeview elementary school substitute teacher and a student.

Throughout the investigation, BCPD determined inappropriate conduct had happened between the substitute teacher and the student.

Police said the conduct wasn't physical, however, there was "inappropriate communication" between the substitute teacher and the student.

After consulting with the Calhoun County Prosecutor's Office, solicitation charges against the substitute teacher were approved.

BCPD arrested the man on Nov. 21 and he's being held at the Calhoun County Jail.

No other students are believed to be involved in the investigation.

The community is encouraged to share any information they may have about the investigation with BCPD by calling (269) 781-0911.

Police said no further information will be released at this time.
