A truck that was stolen from a Fremont home was recovered in a parking lot in Kent County, deputies say.

FREMONT, Mich. — One was arrested after a truck was stolen and multiple cars and garages were broken into in Fremont, the Police Department says.

Homeowners on the east side of Fremont, between Apache Drive and East Oak Street, called police on Sunday. They said someone had entered their cars and garages, and even stole a pickup truck in the early morning hours.

The stolen truck was spotted around 2:15 p.m. that same day in a Walmart parking lot in Cascade Township. Deputies waited outside the store and saw a man matching the suspect's description starting to load items into the truck.

When a deputy approached him, he tried to run. He was arrested in the parking lot.

Police say he is a 47-year-old Grand Rapids man. He is lodged at the Kent County Jail on charges of a possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting police, retail fraud and use of a stolen credit card.

Fremont Police thanked those with surveillance camera footage who came forward to help quickly resolve the investigation.

Anyone with further information is asked to call Silent Observer at 231-652-1121.
