MUNISING, Mich. — Kayakers are getting a new opportunity for touring Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
A tour boat that will launch kayaks while offshore is in production and expected to be launched this year.
The Detroit Free Press reports that Moran Iron Works has signed a contract with Pictured Rocks Kayaking to provide the tours.
The launch vessel is designed to take 72 passengers and 36 kayaks around the park's Lake Superior waters, serving as a launching and landing station for the smaller craft. The vessel is being built at Moran's headquarters in Onaway.
