ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. — A person is dead and another is seriously injured after a crash in Allegan County early Wednesday morning, the Sheriff's Office says.
It happened around 6:11 a.m. on southbound US-131 near the 48 mile marker in Gun Plain Township.
Police say a pickup truck heading southbound hit an SUV that was disabled on the shoulder of the road.
Two people were outside the car working on it when the truck hit them.
One was already dead by the time first responders arrived. The other suffered serious injuries and was sent to the hospital.
The man driving the pickup was uninjured. He was arrested at the scene and taken to the Allegan County Jail, where he is awaiting an arraignment for charges related to the crash.
The highway was closed while police investigated, but has since reopened.
Police say names will not be released until family can be notified.
