MUSKEGON, Mich — Jodi Carson's grandmother, Audrey, recently hit a big milestone.
"She just turned 101 on November 5th," said Carson.
And she did it with a trusty companion by her side: Her two-year-old French bulldog, Vendi, who's not just a pet.
"She's like her best friend," said Carson.
Last Friday, Carson let Vendi and her other dogs into her backyard on Jefferson Street in Muskegon. When she went to call them back inside, she was surprised.
"Normally she's the first one racing in and she's the first one racing out," said Carson.
But this time, Vendi never came. Four days later, Carson still hasn't found her. She believes she was taken directly out of her fenced backyard.
"That's like the only thing that I can think of," she said.
Carson is devastated.
"The only thing that I come up with is that God knew somebody needed her for the moment," said Carson. "But we need her too."
But her sadness isn't as much as her grandmother's will be if Vendi isn't returned. Carson hasn't had the heart to tell her yet.
"It's going to break her heart," she said.
Broken hearted over the possibility of losing the best friend she's had in a century of life.
"She just said, you know, them other dogs, I love them too," remembers Carson. "But if anything ever happened to her, I would, like, I lose it. I would break down," she said.
Carson asked that if anyone knows anything about where Vendi is they call Pound Buddies, who is helping with the search.
There is a reward for a safe return, which Carson said is desperately needed.
"There's no price that can pay for her," she said.
Carson also has filed a police report for Vendi, and said any information can be reported to Muskegon Police as well.
