GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Grand Rapids Acrisure Amphitheater project is one step closer to completion after getting $15 million in funding approved.
The Kent County Board of Commissioners voted 16-2 in favor of funding the project in their meeting Thursday night. The county will provide the $15 million to the Grand Rapids-Kent County Convention/Arena Authority to fund the amphitheater.
The new $116 million amphitheater will be named "Acrisure Amphitheater" after the financial tech company, Acrisure LLC, that recently moved its headquarters to Grand Rapids.
The city estimates that the 12,000-seat venue will generate $7 million in annual wage earnings and $490 million in new economic impact over the next 30 years.
