BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Two men were arrested on Saturday after a call to police about early morning gunfire led to a traffic stop, according to the City of Battle Creek.
Just before 4 a.m. Battle Creek police responded to the 200 block of Taft Court because a witness reported seeing two men standing outside an SUV shooting at objects on a playground inside an apartment complex.
Police found the SUV a short distance from the apartment complex and did a traffic stop. Inside the SUV, they found a rifle and ammunition between the 19-year-old driver and 23-year-old passenger.
According to police, 17 shell casings were recovered from the apartment complex and the SUV.
Both men were arrested and are facing firearm-related charges. The 19-year-old driver is facing additional charges for operating while intoxicated.
