LOWELL, Mich — Two people are in custody after a 60-mile police chase on Wednesday, according to the Lowell Police Department

LPD said around 5 p.m. officers were alerted to a stolen vehicle on E Main Street by their Flock Camera system.

Officers said they found the car traveling westbound near the intersection of E Main and Monroe Street. Although they attempted a traffic stop near W Main and Hudson, the vehicle continued heading north out of the city to Lincoln Lake Avenue.

The pursuit then continued east into Ionia County, then into the City of Belding, into Montcalm County and then back to Kent County, police said.

Officers said there were several attempts to use tire deflation spikes on the suspect vehicle, but none were successful.

The pursuit ended around 6 p.m. in downtown Rockford where the driver and passenger were taken into custody after a short chase on foot, police said.

LPD said while there were no injuries, the suspect damaged some of their squad cars as well as some from Ionia County during the pursuit.

The stolen vehicle was impounded and the man and woman suspects are being held at the Kent County Jail.
