OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — Two people are seriously injured and another is hurt after a crash in Polkton Township on Saturday morning, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said around 10:30 a.m. they were dispatched to a crash at 56th and Wilson.

According to OCSO, the investigation showed that a 2010 Mercury Mariner driven by a 56-year-old West Olive man didn't stop at the stop sign on eastbound Wilson.

Deputies said this caused the Mariner to crash into a 2015 Ford F250 pulling a utility trailer traveling southbound on 56th.

The impact from the crash caused both vehicles to go into the ditch on the east side of 56th, deputies said.

OCSO said both the driver and the passenger of the Mariner were injured and pinned in the vehicle. They were extricated by fire departments on the scene.

The 56-year-old driver was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The passenger was a 62-year-old West Olive woman who deputies said wasn't wearing her seatbelt when the crash happened. She was flown to the hospital by Aeromed with critical injuries.

Deputies said the driver of the Ford, a 57-year-old man from Ravenna, was treated and released at the scene.

The crash is still under investigation by OCSO.
