OMAHA, Neb. — The inaugural Pro Volleyball Federation Championship crowned a winner Saturday afternoon.
The Grand Rapids Rise took on the Omaha Supernovas at Chi Health Center in Omaha.
The Rise got off to a rough start in set one, falling 13 to Omaha's 25 in set one.
Grand Rapids got their mojo back in set 2, but the Supernovas still took the second set 26-24.
With the million-dollar match on the line, the third and final set went to Omaha 24-22.
The Supernovas will split the $1 million player bonus for winning the title.
The Rise will be disappointed to not take home the title, but it's certainly a great first season for the new professional sports team from Grand Rapids.
Next year, the Pro Volleyball Federation will take 10 teams to the court as Dallas, Indianapolis and Kansas City will play their first season.
The top players in the league earn up to $175,000 base salary in the league's second season of competition, the federation said.
Overall, each team will exceed $1.3 million in salaries, and the 14 players that make the final rosters for each squad will earn $60,000 or above for the 2025 campaign.
