29-year-old Grand Rapids man dies while kayaking

Wright was kayaking and fishing off of Stonington in Little Bay de Noc on Sunday. He did not return to share and was reported missing at 7:00 p.m. that day.

DELTA COUNTY, Mich. — The Delta County Sheriff's Office said 29-year-old Tyler Wright from Grand Rapids has been identified as the kayaker who drowned in Little Bay de Noc.

Wright was kayaking and fishing off of Stonington in Little Bay de Noc on Sunday. He did not return to share and was reported missing at 7:00 p.m. that day.

A search began from water, shore and air utilizing different agencies. The search team found Wright's kayak floating upside down around 2:00 a.m. on Monday. Search efforts continued through Tuesday with no results.

On Wednesday the search resumed. Wright was found around 1:00 p.m. in 14 feet of water around a half mile from shore.
