MICHIGAN, USA — Verizon Wireless Stores in West Michigan are giving away $3 million worth of free backpacks on Sunday in hopes of easing the financial burden of going back to school.
Round Room LLC, a Verizon-authorized retailer, is hosting the annual event, "School Rocks Backpack Giveaway," for the 12th year.
There will be family-friendly activities at the event, some locations including dunk tanks, obstacle courses, product and service giveaways from local businesses and more.
Kids will be able to choose their free backpacks from tables full of them. Some locations will have clear backpacks available to meet the child's school district requirements.
The event begins at 1 p.m., but the lines are expected to form beforehand.
