Dorr preparing for annual Fourth of July celebration

The four-day event promises patriotic pomp and circumstance for the small community and surrounding areas.

DORR, Mich. — Organizers in Dorr are busy preparing for their annual Fourth of July celebration. The four-day event kicks off Wednesday and ends Saturday, packed full of patriotic events.

Perhaps the crown jewel of the entire celebration is Dorr's Fourth of July parade. Organizers say the parade could be one of the largest parades around the area.

"It's always big," said Alice Bernal, president of the Dorr Business Association. "It's always big, and we expect it to be no different this year."

The celebration also includes a carnival and live music. It all wraps up Saturday with a big fireworks show over the town.

Another staple coming back this year is the festival's auto show, Patriots and Pin Ups. Organizers say the show helps celebrate the veterans in their community.

"The car community is a really great community, and they show up and show out for the vets every year," said Brooke Kasul, the festival committee chair and owner of Jerry's Body Shop. The shop is the business that hosts the auto show each year.

The entire celebration is put on by the Dorr Business Association.
