GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Wednesday night Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan announced that a new three-and-a-half-year Master Labor Agreement between Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Blue Care Network and the United Auto Workers was ratified by UAW-represented employees during voting on Dec. 5 and 6.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan said the agreement would cover around 1,360 Blue Cross and Blue Care Network employees represented by the UAW. It will run from Sept. 1, 2023, through May 1, 2027.
Blue Cross also shared that the vote was "overwhelmingly" in favor of ratification.
UAW bargaining unit employees are expected to return to work as soon as Dec. 7 unless otherwise instructed by their leader.
Blue Cross said the agreement provides competitive wages and benefits for the employees while ensuring the company maintains reasonable administrative costs into the future.
