GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — The annual Grand Haven Main Street Sidewalk Sales are underway, rain and shine!
At 9 a.m. on Friday, businesses braved the rainy weather as sales continued inside and outside.
Thankfully, the weather cleared soon enough.
"We're all out on the street. The sun has come out, so we're ready to go," said Laura Girard, owner of Surf Shop Grand Haven. "It's an annual event. It's been going on since I was a teenager and we just have everybody come out. It's a good way to get rid of all the summer inventory."
On Facebook, organizers said they plan to continue the sale as the weather allows until they wrap up the night at 7 p.m.
The sale is happening on Washington Avenue, closing down the street from Harbor to Third Street so it can be filled with tents and tables.
Businesses are selling home goods, accessories, clothing and even gourmet dog treats.
Centertown businesses will also use the sidewalk space to sell their goods.
"A wonderful community event that gives residents and visitors alike a great opportunity to enjoy our fantastic downtown and snag some fabulous bargains. You don’t want to miss this annual event sponsored by your Grand Haven Main Street DDA,” said Sharon Behm, owner of Borr’s Shoes & Accessories.
The sidewalk sale is also within the downtown social district, so those interested in getting a drink and perusing the sales can.
On Saturday, the event will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
