GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- Many of the beads taken off an ArtPrize entry last weekend are starting to make their way back to the display.

We told you about Jeffery Augustine Songco Monday night at 11. He'd encouraged ArtPrize visitors to add strands of beads to his piece "Revelry" near Calder Plaza.

Over the weekend, unfortunately, people walking past thought the beads were free for the taking, and the crowds were so large he was unable to protect his artwork.

Songco spent the day encouraging people to return the beads, and he says a lot of people listened.

"Someone came by, and he apologized for him and his sons and that they were kind of following other people and they didn't know, and he came back with the beads and really gave me a sincere apology," Songco said. "It's been really lovely to have people come and bring their beads back, and now other people can enjoy the process of adding to the art."

As of Tuesday afternoon, 2,000 strands of the 25,000 stolen have been returned to the exhibit.
