BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The Battle Creek Fire Department saved a dog from an early morning house fire on Sunday.
Around 4:50 a.m. fire crews were dispatched to 21 Grand Boulevard for a house fire.
When they arrived, crews found the homeowner outside, who said there was a fire in the second-floor bedroom. He told them his dog was still inside the home.
While some crews got inside the home and located the fire, other crews initiated a search for the dog.
Firefighters found the dog successfully and got it out of the home safely.
The fire was brought under control and contained to the second floor of the home. There were no injuries reported.
The cause of the fire was determined to be candles left burning unattended.
