Man claiming to be resident in break-in fights officers before fleeing

Police have reported a number of break-ins and home invasions on the city's south side in recent weeks.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - Battle Creek police are searching for two men who were found inside an apartment on Glenn Cross Road Saturday night.

An officer was sent to an alarm at 8:10 p.m. and found a man in the apartment. He told the officer he lived there but was unable to reset the alarm and then began to fight with the officer. The man broke free and fled along with a second man who was also in the apartment, police said.

Officers used a police dog but were unable to find the men in the woods and swamps around several apartment complexes. Officers are checking surveillance camera footage from the area.

Police have reported a number of break-ins and home invasions on the city's south side in recent weeks.

Anyone with information is asked to call Battle Creek police or Silent Observer.
